Stephen Salas – Director of Coaching
Stephen Salas is in his third year serving as Abilene Christian’s assistant coach. He joined the Wildcats’ during the summer of 2013 following six seasons at Hardin-Simmons and was promoted to full-time assistant coach in January of 2014.
Salas was part of ACU’s first NCAA DI coaching staff that helped guide the Wildcats to a 13-5-1 overall record and 7-5 mark vs. the Southland Conference. He worked extensively with freshmen goalkeepers Kelsey Dombrowski and Sydney Newton throughout last fall and watched them combine for seven shutouts, a 0.88 goals-against average, 81 saves and a .827 save percentage.
Marcus Wood – Coaching Mentor
Hardin-Simmons head coach Marcus Wood is in his 16th season at the helm of the Hardin-Simmons program.
Prior to HSU, Wood was a highly-successful assistant coach at both Cumberland College (Ky.) and Gardner-Webb (N.C.) University. His most recent stop was a one-year stint at GWU, where he helped turn the program from 6-13 under the previous staff in 1998, to 13-9 in 1999. The Lady Bulldogs also upset the No. 1 team in the nation in the conference tournament.
Dustin Beal played four years at Hardin Simmons University. He started all 18 games as a freshman. Beal scored goals in each of the final three games, all on corner kicks. As a senior defender, Beal was named the American Southwest Conference co-defensive player of the year.
Tori Hale is was named the assistant soccer coach at Abilene Christian University in 2015, where they posted a 7-2-2 Southland conference record and were third place in the conference. She graduated with honors at Texas State University in May of 2015, where she played soccer under Coach Kat Conner from 2012-2015.
Matt Pitcock was a four year letter winner for Hardin Simmons Men’s team from 2010 – 2015. He was selected to ASC All conference and NCAA West All Region.
